I have been so excited to use my new wireless ear pods, but I have one problem... I'm always losing my case! This can be as big problem when they run out of battery life and I'm left digging through my bags to find it. Even if you're a completely responsible human being and can keep track of yours, you'll love this cute case! You can loop a key ring or carabiner to keep it securely where you won't lose it.
Let's get started! Here's what you'll need:
Fabric (scraps will do) and snaps. I used felt for the liner of mine, but you can use woven fabric as well.
📌 You can download a pattern for pieces here.
*note the seam allowance is 3/8"
This is designed to fit wireless EarPods case that is approximately 2"x 1.75" x .75". Mine are Apple AirPods.
Step 1: Fold the strap like you fold bias tape and sew the opening closed.
Step 2: Place the flap cover main fabric and lining pieces right sides together and sew down the sides and bottom, leaving the top open. Clip the bottom corners so it will turn out nicely.
Turn it right sides out and press. Topstitch the sides and bottom (using a stitch length of 3.0).
Step 3: Place the Front and Back pieces of the main fabric right sides together and sew down the sides and across the bottom.
Match up the seam allowance of the bottom and sides where we just sewed. Draw a line 1/4" down from the actual seam (not the seam allowance tops, but where the fabric is sewn).
Trim off the extra leaving 1/4" seam allowance.
Repeat on the other side of the rectangle. This is what it looks like below.
Repeat all of Step 3 with the lining fabric.
Step 4: Place the Flap right sides together with the main fabric. Make sure it's centered and sew in place.
Step 5: Take the loop and place it on the side top seam and sew in place as shown below.
Step 6: Place the main fabric and lining right sides together and pin in place.
Sew around the top, leaving the front of the case open to turn it right sides out.
Turn the lining and main fabric right sides out.
Tuck the lining inside. Topstitch around the top opening of the case.
Step 7: Apply the snap centered on the flap.
Place your AirPods case inside the case.
Close the flap where your case will fit snugly inside. Mark where you want to attach the other snap with a pin.
Apply the snap and you're done!
You can attach a carabiner or key ring around the loop as well.
