If you're familiar with us here at Create Kids Couture, I'm sure you've heard us mention Rowenta before as we are very loyal Rowenta customers! I, personally, grew up watching my grandma do all her quilting with her Rowenta Iron and Janome Sewing Machine so when I started sewing, you better believe I made sure to have my Rowenta Iron and Janome Sewing Machine! lol. I actually received my Rowenta iron 8 years ago and it's still going strong, but I was lucky enough to receive one of the newest Rowenta irons and I was not at all surprised to see that it's still the same exceptional quality as my original iron but with newer, and even better features!

We wrote this blog post about caring for boutique clothes when CKC was just a baby--it's almost 2 years to the day it was written--and we have referenced it many times. We're pleased to be able to expand on one particular section though: Ironing! Holiday Gift Cards Giveaway!!!!

I don't know about you, but I am so ready for the holidays!!!! Too bad I haven't started ANY of my holiday shopping. Or sewing. Or planning. Hmmmm.... Now that I think of it, I already feel behind! :/

So earlier this year, Tiffany and I had the privilege to work with the wonderful women from ADORNit! They were writing a book and invited us to come up with a cute girls accessory for it which included items made exclusively from their upcoming Nested Owls in Coral  line! Tiffany and I couldn't have been more excited because
a.) we LOVE owls--Tiffany's house is covered in coral AND owls and I just love all birds
b.) ever since we were introduced to ADORNit at last fall's quilt market we've been completely smitten with them and,

c.) ummmmm....who doesn't want to be published? In a book? With OWL fabric? And create a cute girls accessory???
HELLO! This was right up our alley in every way possible!

Thankfully, it didn't take us long to come up with a cute idea because we already had one in the "wings"--hehe, owls, wings, get it?--waiting for us to use it. So we whipped up April's Reversible Half Apron and Headband. Cute does not describe this set! It's one of our favorite's because it is so simple and super ruffly, which we obviously cannot get enough of!

The pattern can be found exclusively in ADORNit's Nested Owl book so if you want the pattern, you have to purchase the book! Lucky for you, ADORNit was generous enough to donate a book to giveaway along with a charm pack of the Nested Owls line to one lucky winner! Giveaway with Fabric Finders!!!

Today we're releasing Coco's Fabric Pettiskirt and we are so excited about it because we got to team up with a company we haven't worked with before: Fabric Finders!

Two years and 30,000 Fans Later....

This was a BIG week for us! If you didn't hear, we had our two year birthday on Sunday, which happened to be the same day we reached 30,000 fans! What a coincidence!?! Who would have thought two years ago, that we'd be where we are today? Certainly not Tiffany and I! lol. Thanks everyone for your continued support; we look forward to many, many more years!

Sewing with Knits: Debunking the Mystery

Our friend Heather, owner of Girl Charlee, is stopping by today to talk to you a little about sewing knits. Until recently, most CKC patterns have been for woven fabrics, but now we are branching out into knits patterns, and we want to help take the mystery out of sewing knits. To be perfectly honest, I (Robin) was scared to death to try sewing knits for the first time, but Heather sent me a sample of her fabulous knit fabric to try, and so I dove in. I made a pair of Kelsey's leggings, and it was so much easier than I thought. Here's Abby modeling them, not bad for my very first try, right?
