12 Days of Christmas πŸŽ„2019πŸŽ„ Gnome Ornament

πŸŽΆπŸŽ„πŸŽΆπŸŽ…πŸΌπŸŽΆπŸŽ„πŸŽΆ
It's the 2nd Day of Christmas and CKC has for me, gnome ornaments for my tree!

Today we have a really fun and cute project for an ornament, perfect for your own tree or as a gift or project to do with friends or kids.  Jennifer J. has all the details for us!

Materials Needed:

  • 1 1/2" paint brush
  • 1/2" wooden furniture buttons
  • Ribbon
  • Pom Balls or jingle bell for top of hat
  • Other embellishments as desired
  • Hot Glue gun
  • Sewing machine, thread, scissors, cutting mat etc.
  • Gnome hat template: click here to download and print

Note for this project we are using a 1/4" seam allowance.

Construction:

Step 1: Lay your pattern piece on your fabric and cut out two triangles to make the hat.

Step 2: Place the triangles right sides together and pin in place. Sew along the sides of the triangle, making sure to stop at the top with the needle lowered and pivot the triangle to sew down the other side. Leave the bottom open.

Step 3: Clip the fabric at the top, making sure not to cut the threads you just sewed. Turn the triangle right side out.

Step 4: Slip the hat over the handle of the paint brush as shown. You can use hot glue to secure it in place.

Step 5: Take about 3.5" length of ribbon and glue down one side. Wrap it around the base of the hat and if your ribbon will fray, you may want to heat the ends so that it will not unravel. You can use a candle or lighter to do this. Be careful! Glue the other end of the ribbon in place now.

Step 6: Now hot glue the wooden furniture button to be the gnome's nose just below the ribbon.

Step 7: Now you can hand sew the jingle bell or pom on top of the hat.

Step 8: Next we will attach the hanger. Start by pinching the side seams of the hat together 2-3" from the top of the hat. This is where we will attach the hanger. You can use yarn, ribbon, or even twine if desired. Use a large eyed need to sew a loop large enough to hang the ornament from your tree.

Step 9: Finish up your ornament by adding any other embellishments or personalization you want.  Aren't they cute!  They are all ready to gift or hang on your own tree.

We can't wait to see your version!  Come on over to our fabulous community on Facebook and Instagram and share your creations.  Thank you so much, Jennifer Jungers, for your adorable project.
