Just in time for back to school here is a fun tutorial for all those composition notebooks! You can also easily adjust this tutorial to fit any size book.
To start you will need to cut one 3" x 11" piece of fabric and one 3" x 11" piece of interfacing for the bookmark, and then one 3" x 7" piece of fabric for the pocket. You will also need 8" of your choice of elastic. This would be super cute with some patterned fold-over elastic.
To start, take your pocket and hem down one of the short sides. Iron the interfacing to the wrong side of the longer piece of fabric.
Next we lay the pocket on top of the longer piece.
And then fold in half and sew up the long side as shown below.
Flip right sides out and iron so the seam is in the back.
At each short end, tuck the raw edges into the fabric tube. Then slide your elastic in by 1/4" and sew in place.
Topstitch down both long sides and then you're done.
Slide onto your notebook and then slide in your pen!
Happy sewing y'all,
Morgan
