Hey guys! We've decided to bring back the "Boutique of the Month" where we feature one of amazing fans businesses. This month's boutique of the month is Diva Girl Boutique. Candace has been in business for 2 years now and she recently sat down and told us a bit about herself and her adorable business. Make sure you go and show her some love over at her Facebook fan page.
I have three little girls and waned them to have unique clothing. I've always been very crafty so I taught myself to sew. I got so many compliments on everything I made and my hubby talked me into opening a shop on etsy
Being a Mom and a boutique owner is hard, how do you find the time to fulfill orders, create new pieces, and just run a business in general?
I do most of my sewing at night when normal people sleep. My sewing room has e,tea space for the kids to play, color, sleep watch tv etc, if I have to sew during the day. I have a very supportive husband who helps with as much as he can.
Run us though your typical work at home day.
We wake up around 7am. I get my oldest ready for school and everyone eats breakfast. Hubby takes daughter to school on his way to work, at 8:15. Do the dishes and throw in a load of Lau dry. Then I get myself and the other two girls ready to face the day. Then I head to my workroom to clean up all the thread that fell to the floor while sewing the night before. Throughout the day I get everything cut out that I will need to sew that night while also cleaning the house and playing with the girls. We break for lunch then we read some books and the girls play outside. Go to the post office to drop off packages from the night before. Pick Addisyn up from school at 3:00. Do homework and snacks and start dinner. After my husband gets home we eat dinner and bathe kids. Usually wat h a show or two before putting kids to bed, then I go to my workroom and sew all night. Sometimes until midnight and sometimes until 4-5 am. I have a couch and tv in there too so hubby comes to hang out with me sometimes. I get very little sleep, but its the only way to do it all.
How many items do you have currently listed in your shop that you used a Create kids Couture pattern to create?
almost 200
(CKC: Primrose)
(ckc: Fairy's)
Oh my! That's super fan status there! Where do you find inspiration?
Sometimes my girls pick out fabric for me. My best ideas come to me when I am too busy to do anything about it. Usually I just have ideas pop into my head out of nowhere.
What is your favorite piece that you have ever created for your boutique?
I have a very popular outfit that I used the kiki top on. The main fabric was discontinued so I had to alter it a little. It was a wonderful seller.
If you could go back to when you first started your business and tell yourself about the most important thing you've learned as a business owner thus far, what would it be?
Always use a serger!!
I couldn't agree more! Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with us. And congrats again on being our boutique of the month.
Happy Sewing Y'all!
