It's the 4th Day of Christmas at CKC and that means another free pattern for you! This one comes to use from Kara A. and it's for all you crochet lovers out there. I adore the personal touch that handmade ornaments add to a Christmas tree.
So pretty! And just think of all the possibilities. Our tutorial below shows you all the steps to creating this awesome ornament. If you're totally new to crochet, we do have a beginner blog post and video that will help you out. It's never too late to start! And now without further ado, here's Kara!
Materials
needed:
Shatterproof
Christmas ball ornament
Size E
crochet hook
Fingering
or baby weight yarn
To start your ornament, you will make a slip stitch onto
your hook, then chain 5, insert your hook into the first chain and slip stitch
to join into a loop. See below.
Chain 3 (counts as first double
crochet here and throughout), then make 15 double crochet into the ring, join
with a slip stitch to close. (16 double crochet)
Chain 3, then 2 double crochet in
the same space as the chain, to continue around the round- skip the next
stitch, then 3 double crochet in the next stitch, repeat around, then slip
stitch to close. (8 double crochet clusters)
Chain 3 then 2 double crochet in
the same space as the chain, chain 2, 3 double crochet in between the next
double crochet cluster, chain 2, repeat around, slip stitch to close. (8 double
crochet clusters)
Repeat the previous round one more
time.
Chain 3, then 2 double crochet in
the same space as the chain, chain 1, 3 double crochet in between the next
double crochet cluster, chain 1, repeat around, slip stitch to close. (8 double
crochet clusters.
Repeat this round twice more.
Place your ornament inside your
work, taking care to make sure that you have it placed in there straight.
Chain 1, then half double crochet
into the next space between clusters, half double crochet in each cluster around,
finish off, weave in ends.
Your
ornament is now complete! These are super fun ornaments to hang on the tree by
mixing your ornament and yarn colors. To really make the crochet pop, try
making one with a clear ornament!
Thanks to Kara for this awesome tutorial! I feel like I can go and make one (or twenty) now!
We can't wait to see the ornaments you make too, so please be sure to come share your photos in our patterns group.
