Mini Contest: Get Creative with the Freebies!

We have a bunch of fun freebie patterns here on the blog and we love to see the creative ways that you use them!  Michelle Lee, one of our baby testers, shared this inventive idea with me yesterday. She used the pattern for Colton's Crayon Roll and made a few adjustments to turn it into a 6-bottle essential oils roll!

Isn't that cool?  Now the essential oils can be rolled up and carried safely in a purse. This is a great gift idea too!  Michelle made it as a giveaway prize, calling it a Citrus Punch Oil Roll. So cute and clever!

If you want to use Michelle's idea, she took the Colton's pattern, changed the widths of the slots, added a layer of felt, made the pockets out of knit, and used fold-over elastic for the closure. It's soft and perfect for keeping the oils all safe and snug.

Now that you have seen what Michelle made using one of our free patterns, we want to challenge YOU to get creative too!  Let's call this mini blog contest the "Get Creative With Freebies" contest!  Here are the rules:

---------------------------------------------
  1. Choose any free pattern or tutorial linked from our Tutorials page here as the basis for your creation.
  2. Come up with a new way to alter the pattern or embellish the item and then sew it.  Extra points for creativity!
  3. Email a photo of your item to kristen@createkidscouture.com by midnight on Wednesday, August 13.  The photos will be posted on the blog so please do your best.
---------------------------------------------

The winner(s) will be announced here on the blog on Thursday, August 14. The prize will be one free CKC pattern of your choice! Who doesn't love free patterns?!

I'm sure you have some great ideas floating around in that mind of yours and we are ready to see them!

Let's Create! ~ Kristen
