Weekly Wound Up

How did you enjoy the holiday weekend and all of our BIG sales?

The day after Thanksgiving, my family set out on a new adventure to find a Christmas Tree in the mountains near our home. It was our first year doing this and we discovered several things. First of all, that even SUV's with four wheel drive can get stuck in the snow right in the middle of the road. And that anywhere you're stuck is a really great place to park while you find a tree.  Second, that the infamous Charlie Brown tree isn't all that bad. It can be quite lovely and very, very tempting when your little kids are tired of trudging through the snow to find a better one. And third, that when you finally find the perfect tree and get it home, that tree will seem to have grown several feet by the time you get it in the house. True story. You'll have to try it sometime to see what I mean.

And how does this all relate to patterns?  I don't know.  Except that in our sewing adventures we may come across techniques that aren't totally familiar to us. We could stay far, far away from those patterns. -BUT-  If we decide to go for it  and set out on that trip anyway, we might just learn a bunch of stuff along the way and come home with "the best tree ever."

Because store-bought is never quite as good as earning it yourself.  Alright, on with our Weekly Wound Up!

New Releases

On Monday we released Marnie's Pieced Ruffle Pants and Capris as our Pattern of the Month for December. Marnie's are fun to sew up and they pair beautifully with many of our stripwork patterns such as Landry's and Jewel's.

Then on Wednesday we released Donna's Women's Knit Dolman Top.  Donna's is a fresh, fun knit design featuring a regular neckline as well as a wide neckline great for wearing off the shoulders. It also includes 3 sleeve lengths, making it perfect for all seasons. This fun top features a V colorblock style option as well, for another fun look.

Then yesterday we released Blanche's Frilly Top and Dress! This show-stopping ruffle dress or top is a great choice for any occasion. It features an adorable keyhole neckline with a button in back that ensures a fitted look, and the peter pan collar adds a sophisticated touch. Blanche's is on sale for 30% off so grab it while it's on sale!

On the Blog

Our fans have been begging for a tutorial on how to make our Cosette's dress using a store-bought shirt, so here it is!  It even includes a how-to video made by Morgan, the designer of Cosette's.

On Monday, December 1 we began our CKC Twelve Days of Christmas where we will share a free pattern with you every day as a gift from us to you! Merry Christmas! Here are the first 5 Days of CKC Christmas that you can find on the blog from this week:

Aren't they so fun and useful? You can use them now or save them for later!  All of our free patterns and sewing tutorials are also pinned on our Pinterest page for easy access anytime.

To go along with our Donna's top for Women that was released this week, on the blog we shared a tutorial to give you yet another option to the shirt, perfect for layering or all on its own! You can create an open back dolman in these two different styles!

Our next CKC Sew-Along will begin this next Tuesday, December 9.  The pattern we have chosen is Nicole's Party Dress, which will release on Monday!  If you have never participated in a sew-along, we would love to have you come join us in the CKC Sew-Alongs Group, were we all work on the same pattern by doing certain steps each day. Not only is it fun to sew along with our new online friends, but there are also prizes!  And of course we will be there to answer any questions you may have about the pattern.

Be sure to keep an eye out as we continue to add a new free pattern to our blog every weekday before Christmas! (Yes, that will be more than 12! Ssshhh.) We have some really fun ones planned that you won't want to miss!

Weekend Sale

This weekend all sizes of our Abbey's Nightgown and Bloomers Set are on sale for 50% off! From doll size up to Women's Plus, you can make matching pajamas for all the girls in your life!  Abbey's is designed for use with knit fabric and many of us have used it with wovens as well, with great results! You can make Abbey's as nightshirt and bloomers, or as a full nightgown length if you choose. Either option is perfect for those Christmas jammies that you know your kids will love! All sizes of Abbey's are half-price all weekend so don't be afraid to get all the sizes you want while they're such a steal!

That's all for our Weekly Wound Up.  We hope you have a great weekend!
