Serging 101: Videos for Threading Your Machine!

Who's ready for the next step in Serging 101?

On Monday we did a post for you on how to get started with your new serger. If you haven't read it yet, believe me, we did it in baby steps that you can handle -- especially if your serger has been sitting there unopened for months like mine was!  Well today we added another resource to our Serging 101 series. Videos! We chose two of the most popular sergers on the market (that several of our staff members happen to own) and showed you the up-close basics on how to thread these two sergers!

First, let's start with the Brother 1034D.  This is *my* new machine, and I'm keeping it real in this beginner's series by showing you what it's like to thread your serger as a beginner.  This is only the fifth time I've ever threaded it and you get to watch! So grab some popcorn and pull up a chair. You even have permission to chuckle at my Idaho farm-girl accent. Here are my instructions on how to thread your Brother serger, in beginner lingo:

That wasn't so bad, now, was it? I've done it a few more times and it's really pretty fun. I still have yet to SEW with my serger, but we'll get to that in our next blog post of the series.

Now onto our Juki video!  This one is done by our fabulous Shannon and she is an extremely experienced serger. She could probably thread hers in her sleep. The model Shannon is threading is the Juki MO 654de machine, and it is a beauty! Here's Shannon with that tutorial:

Thank you, Shannon!

Now you all have no excuses not to go get your own serger threaded!  If you have a model different than ours, don't be afraid to search for help on YouTube. And speaking of YouTube, we hope you subscribed while you were there! We have more fun videos in the works that you won't want to miss out on.

Stay tuned for more Serging 101 blog helps from CKC! We are excited to offer you both the beginner's side and the expert's side when it comes to learning all about your serger and how to get great results every time.

Let's Create! ~ Kristen
