Fringe All The Things!!!

Okay, I'm so excited about this blog because if you've seen any of the pictures I've been posting in our Facebook Group this summer you'd see that I'm kind of addicted to the latest fashion trend: FRINGE! I've been asked so many times about the outfits I've made so I'm here to give you the 411 on fringe: where to buy it, how to use it, what to use it on and I'm even going to show you how you can make it yourself! So grab your morning coffee--or your diet coke ;)--and sit back and relax because I'm going to tell you everything you need to know about fringe.

The first question you might have is "Where do I use this stuff"? The answer is simple. EVERYWHERE, my friend.

Here are some pics of places we've used fringe at, as well as the patterns we used.

On the bottom of a dress! Arguably the easiest place to add fringe.
We used Charity's and Faith's to make these two dresses.
On a bodice! Mariah's Retro Crop Top was used to make this top!
On your sleeves! We used the Danika's tutorial to make this one!
Layered on shorts! We used Gemma's since it was easy to replace lace with suede fringe trim.
On a sweater! We used the Chantelle's tutorial to make this one!
On your boots! Use our boot cover video tutorial to learn how!
So now that we got your brain swirling with ideas, the next question you probably have is HOW do you sew it on? The simple answer is that its sewn on just like any lace you buy in the store. I know a lot of people are hesitant to use trims because they aren't exactly sure how to apply it to their garments. Just dive in ladies because it's a lot easier than you think! Here is a quick video overview of some different fringes and how to sew them onto your garments.

Now that you are well informed on how and where to apply fringe trim, you would probably like to know where you can purchase trim from! I have purchase many trims from different Etsy shops, but my hands down favorite trim shop, especially for fringe, is Kabooco! Susan has a great selection of trims and supplies that rivals any Etsy shop! She is quick with shipping, courteous, and generous; it's not uncommon to find extra trims or buttons in your package when it arrives! These extras help you step out of your comfort zone and try new things! Speaking on her generosity, she was kind enough to extend a coupon code to our customer for 11% off any order in her shop so you can try her out for yourself. Just use coupon code "CKCFRINGE11" at checkout!

Just a sample of the assorted fringe trims Kabooco carries
Finally, if you love sewing with knits like we do and you're interested in creating your own fringe, then we have an awesome tutorial for you below!

And if you've made it all the way to the end here, you get a prize! It's a FREE "Best Friends" cut file!

Happy Sewing!
Shannon
