This week is our county fair (yes, we still have one of those!) and I entered a bunch of the CKC outfits I've made for my kids and myself this past year. It was a lot of fun and my projects did well, but I have to say that my favorite part of this year's experience was teaching my kids how to sew their own entries! My son made a Felix the Fox all by himself from scratch and my daughter made a lacy pillow. It was so... enjoyable! The kids were much more patient than I expected AND they both earned blue ribbons in the end. (After giving them the "don't feel bad if you don't win" speech. Oops.) Anyway, I encourage you to give it a shot teaching the little people around you to do what you love - even if they're not your own kids, I bet you have some neighbors or perfect strangers you can round up! Anyway, enough about my week. Let's take a look at the past week at CKC.
We released four new doll patterns on Wednesday! We now offer Hope's Hi-Low Dress, Farrah's Peplum Romper, LaRae's Scalloped Dress/Top, and Chloe's Peasant Party Dress for your 15" and 18" dolls! Your little girl will love having a matching set!
Yesterday we released Skyler's Patchwork and Simple Skirt Dress. It features a fitted bodice with a new style of bow closures in the back. The skirt can be made as stunning patchwork or the simple version if you prefer. Skyler's is 30% off for the next 24 hours!

Congratulations to Ashley Herrmann of Sibling Rivalry Designs, our Boutique of the Month for August! She has such adorable outfits and accessories in her shop and on Monday she shared some details on how she manages to run her business from home. Nap time (or quiet time) is my favorite time of the day and there's no quicker way to ruin it than for someone to slam the door! On How To Tuesday you can learn to make this clever Door Latch Cover. (I would have loved to receive one as a baby gift when my babies were little!)
If you love ruffles as much as we do, a rolled hem foot can be a fabulous tool... once you figure out how to use it! On Wednesday's blog post you can learn two ways to use your narrow rolled hem foot! We have step-by-step instructions with pictures AND two videos!
Congratulations to Kristi Fitzpatrick, Alisha Annand, and Grady Benedict, the winners of our "Get Creative with Freebies Contest" on the blog! They had such clever ways of using our free patterns and you can read more about their entries here.
Did you know we have a sewing group for CKC fans? Come join us! It's a fun place to show off our CKC creations, talk sewing, and just enjoy being with like-minded people!
It's back to school time and we want to see your cuties rocking their CKC First Day outfits! Post a picture to our Facebook wall, label it "First Day of School," and tag us. On September 3 we will draw five random people to win free patterns!
