We hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and a productive week. My kids each gave me a coupon book that they made at school so it's been a pretty sweet week around here. (I'd like to get my hands on more of those coupons!) I'm really looking forward to school being out for the summer, with all these helpful kiddos around. Speaking of summer, we have some great summer patterns that released this week! Let's take a look!
Yes! It's true! CKC now has swim shorts for boys! Jonathan's Swim Shorts are available in sizing for Babies, Boys, and Tweens! They have an elastic waistband and options for a drawstring and/or side pockets. Sizes 3T and under have extra room for a swim diaper - we've thought of everything! The swim shorts come with an optional lining, completely different from the annoying and not-so-safe brief-style lining that we often find in store-bought shorts. Jonathan's are fully lined from top to bottom. Trust me, your boys will never go back to the other kind! And don't stress over trying to find board short fabric - it's easy to find at many stores such as The Fabric Fairy, our blog sponsor and online shop where most of our testers bought their board shorts fabric.
We also released Greg's Knit Shorts for Babies, Boys, and Tweens! These brand new shorts will give your son the perfect fit and he will love how comfy they are! You can sew them up quickly with the simple version, or he will love you even more if you add the optional pockets, side stripes, and drawstring! The shorts are knit but the optional pieces can be made with wovens. These shorts are a must-have staple for summer!
And we haven't forgotten the girls! We also released Bailey's Bubble Shorts this week and they are oh-so-adorable! These trendy, fully lined shorts are quick to sew and really comfortable. Your little girl will love running and playing in her boutique bubble shorts! I bet you can't make just one!
Look at these adorable new doll patterns we released! First up is a two-in-one pattern with Claire's Pillowcase Dress and Harper's Pillowcase Top. Perfect for summer! Next we have Tessa's Knit T-Shirt and Dress, which has so many different options you'll never get bored with it. Finally, we have another two-in-one pattern which is Lacey's Reversible Apron Top paired with Iris' Frilly Shorts. Sew these up to match the toddler versions for your daughter and she will be as happy as a princess!
On the Blog
Gorgeous summer romper, anyone?! Our monthly mash-up is here on the blog, where Deb Koch from Ma Cherie kids shows us how to make this gorgeous romper using two of our favorite CKC patterns. If nothing else, you must come see her other photos! She is amazing.
Who out there loves the look of piping? It's such a pretty detail but there's not always time to add it to your projects. So why not try out our faux piping technique? On the blog here we'll teach you how to add faux piping to any double-sided strap, sash, or tie!
Buying fabric! It's one of our favorite activities, right? On the blog yesterday we shared some tips for choosing great fabric combos for all the pretty outfits we want to make. Come see how to take your fabric combinations up a notch!
We just reached 7000 people in our sewing group on Facebook! It's a wonderful group of women who share what they make, swap ideas and knowledge, and support one another! If this sounds like something you're interested in, then by all means please come join us! The more the merrier!
This week's Half-Off Friday pattern is Lindsey's Sweet Twirly Skirt! This little skirt with its large ruffle and bias trim at the bottom pairs beautifully with any of our CKC tops, or even with just a tank top or t-shirt! I love how quick and easy Lindsay's is to make. You can buy it on sale for 50% off all day Friday. And guess what! Lindsay's Skirt is also available in Tweens, Womens' and Women's Plus Sizes, and those pattern are 50% off all day too! Here's your chance to get matching patterns for you and your little girl - remember tiered pricing goes into effect when you buy 3 or more patterns! (Why not throw in one of our new releases too?)
That's all for this week's recap. Happy Friday!
