Friday Recap

Ready or not, here it is! May is one of my favorite months and it is busy, busy, busy for many of us with our kids finishing up school! It's also a fun time to be sewing up all those summer outfits. This week we released some sweet new summer dresses that you and your little ones are going to love.

New Releases

Our first release this week is Hadley's Halter Top, Dress, and Maxi Dress. Yes, that's all three options in one pattern! The top length pairs really well with shorts or leggings for school, and the dress is such a quick sew that she'll be delighted to have some more for the summer!

Landry's Stripwork Knit/Woven Dress is versatile and so sweet!  It has three sleeve length options (sleeveless, short, and long) and your daughter will love the comfy knit bodice with it's bib and ruffle design.

This darling new pattern is Monroe's Wrap Dress. It features a fun faux wrap look, a new v-neck bodice design, and beautiful embellishments that can be used for a dressy dress or left off for a more casual look and feel.

On the Blog

This week we began a new series on the blog called Serging 101. On Monday our post was all about Getting Started with a New Serger, beginning with the first step of opening the box! A lot of you have requested this series and we're excited about it.

For How-To Tuesday, Morgan gave us this free tutorial for making a super cute fabric bookmark!  I love that the elastic holds the bookmark in place so we can set it our book down in a hurry if we need to. And now any book can be stylish!

On Wednesday we posted this amazing upcycle tutorial from Lindsey Jones, a fan of CKC who loves to sew for her little Chick. Lindsey shows us how to take a boy's button up shirt and turn it into a little girl's dress!

We continued our Serger 101 series with two helpful videos on how to thread your new serger, whether it is a Brother or a Juki. You can read the video intros and watch them right on the blog post, and of course they are on our YouTube channel too.

If you would like to know about our new pattern releases that are coming soon, be sure to download our smartphone app!  We just updated our Events calendar and it now lists most of our new releases for May. If you don't yet have our app, you definitely want to get it. It's FREE and full of all our CKC information in one spot: facebook, blog, instagram, website, events, and much more! You can download the CKC App here

Our next CKC Sew-Along begins on May 6 and the theme is "Sew S'more Shorts." For this one we can choose any CKC shorts pattern we want to make (girls' or boys') and as we follow along with the group there are even prizes for participating! For more information and to join, you can find the CKC Sew-Alongs Group here. Let's all sew s'more shorts!

Have you ordered your copy of our new magazine, I Love PDF Patterns? Mine arrived in the mail today and it is absolutely gorgeous! It is available both in digital copy and in print, here in the Etsy shop.  The Spring Issue has 118 pages and features patterns, articles, and activities from several different PDF designers, all in one place! Just look at the reviews in the link above and you will see how much we are all loving it!

We are happy to announce that the first place winner of our Easter Contest is Kristen Benedict! This little cutie and her precious Easter Dress are just too adorable for us to pass up. Congratulations!

Have you checked out our YouTube channel today? Join us for our "Arendelle Idol" contest for a chance to win! Does your little lady have what it takes to make the flurries fly? Record it and respond to our video for a chance to win the new CKC Elise's Everyday Princess pattern, a custom Elsa dress by Rainbows Lollipops N Gumdrops, and a custom Elsa necklace by Cookie Crumbs Couture!

Today's Half-Off Friday pattern is Riley's Redesigned Knot Dress! This beautiful double-layered knot dress has a little twist to it that standard knot dresses don't have: the ability to tie the bodice multiple ways! The ties can be done in front, back, sides, or a combination of the three! Riley's is easy to dress up for a special event or comfy enough to wear layered for school. We know your little girl will love it, and now you can get it for 50% off! Here are some more views of Riley's:

Thanks for another great week!

Let's Create! ~ Kristen
