Fabric Consultant---Basic Prints!!

Hello everyone at Create Kids Couture! It’s Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop and I’m here to tell you a bit about fabric! We are surrounded by fabric here at Fat Quarter Shop and want to share some of the prettiness with you!

Today we are going to chat a bit about basics, but focusing on prints rather than solids, like we did last month! Prints are just plain fun. Adding a dot, a stripe or a chevron to your project can give it that extra something. It can turn a plain top into something hip. It can add that pop of color that you didn’t know you were missing. Incorporate prints into your projects (and stash) and keep them feeling fresh, fun and colorful.

How to Slim Leggings and Adjust the Rise

Sometimes leggings can be a little tricky. Not the sewing part- that's easy, but the fitting can be a headache. Leggings are one of those clothing items that you want to fit JUST RIGHT. They can't be too baggy or too tight, too short waisted or too high waisted. We make our patterns to fit "average" size kids, but of course, not all kids are average, and there a million variations in between. 

Today I'm going to show you a little tip to help you tweak our leggings patterns to get just the perfect fit. These methods work great on our patterns. There are other, more complicated ways of doing this out there, but CKC patterns are designed for simple adjustments, so follow these steps to get  a perfect fit on CKC leggings.

You're about to rip your hair out because you bought the right thread, you followed the directions,  you watched every YouTube video, you visited every Facebook sewing group for advice, you even adjusted that little tiny screw a thousand times and you still can't get your stupid sewing machine to shirr correctly!!!  Aaaccckkk!!!

You want your sweet little baby to look like an innocent peasant girl, not like some lady of the evening wearing a skin baring off the shoulder dress. 

You yell at the thread, "Shrink!!!" 

It doesn't.

You yell at your machine, "What the heck??? Why can't you just work for me???" 

Your machine doesn't answer.
